Art Materials
Supplies purchased from Home Depot (total about $60):
- four 4'x8' sheets of 3/8" particle board (cut down to 69" by the store)
- two 1"x4"x6' boards
- two 1"x2"x8' poles
- nylon cord (3/8" clothesline)
- thin nylon twine
- two "KEEP OUT" signs
- small can of red paint, and a cheap foam brush
I also picked up a cordless drill and a 1/4" spade bit while I was there, which makes the receipt look more impressive. The drill got broken in on this very project.
There were a couple of other random things picked up along the way ($10 at Fry's Electronics, plus a little at Safeway):
- assorted audio cables and connectors
- a one-pound tub of gummi worms
We brought along some items my parents or I already had:
- large roll of duct tape
- masking tape
- bundle of small cable ties
- empty glass jar (once held pasta sauce)
- Accoutrements for Anatomy expanding brain (just drop in water!)
- 12oz can of Spam(tm)
- silly little piezo-electric digital sound recorder (impulse buy at Fry's)
- roll of non-slip rubber sheeting ("earthquake mat")
- medium-sized speaker
- Sun Microphone II
- CD player, with Body Count CD loaded
- label printer
- red gift-wrap ribbon
- an old newspaper
- nails (little ones and big ones)
- miscellaneous tools (notably a hand saw)
Materials acquired on-site:
- one large metal cabinet (6' tall, 3' wide, 1.5' deep)
- cable organizer (flat, carpeted piece that hooks onto cube wall; cables run behind it)
- three boxes of laser printer paper
- many (25 or 30) folding cardboard boxes, used for office moves
- several empty cardboard boxes of assorted sizes
- large, empty metal can (once held "designer popcorn" gift)
- blank 8.5x11 paper (for signs)
- Sun Ultra workstations with "radio" software installed
- one stuffed animal, in the form of a purple shark
Remarkably, we did the whole thing in one take. Multiple trips to the hardware store weren't required.
